Why are sites and buildings separate?

So, you finally found time to sit down and enter your property on the Site Selection Center. Should you enter it as a Building or a Site? Well, there are some big differences that you may want to consider. One major difference is the data entry page for a building has fields related to structures, such as building square feet, eave height, ceiling center clearance, and many more. While, the data entry page for a site is collecting information about the land and is assuming there are no buildings of any consequence. This becomes an important distinction when someone is searching for a property. If they are looking for a 50,000-sf building, it will not show up if it has been entered as a site. In some circumstances, depending on your property’s assets, it may make sense to enter it as both a site and a building.
